A little bit about me...
I’m Kate, the founder of Believe Therapy. For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in how people think, feel and behave and this led me to study Psychology at Sheffield University. Following this I spent 10 enriching years in the NHS focusing on dementia care and then a further 15 years with the Alzheimer’s Society helping families to accept, adjust and live well with a diagnosis of dementia.
My curiosity into how people manage their mental health and emotional well-being during life’s challenges and changes continued to grow along with a need to broaden my experience and expertise. My career path consequently turned toward counselling and psychotherapy. I am now a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and have the privilege of combining my passion and knowledge to help people believe, learn and grow.
When I'm not wearing my therapist hat, I’m a wife and mum to two amazing teenagers, and a dog-mum to Oscar, my lovable cocker spaniel. I adore long walks with Oscar as this is generally when I do all my thinking and reflecting on life. I enjoy going to the theatre, particularly musicals – I believe in the power of music and a good old sing-along!! I love travel (when life permits) and learning about other cultures and especially how cultural influences impact on mental health and emotional well-being. Importantly, I love people and helping people to understand themselves and be the best version of themselves that they can be.
I'm known to be approachable and a good listener, but I’ll let you be the judge of that! I'm not just a therapist; I'm a 'people person' committed to helping you discover the best version of yourself.
The Origin of Believe Therapy
Why "Believe" Matters
The inception of Believe Therapy was a personal journey that led me to overcome life's obstacles—be it health, stress or the demands of creating a healthy work/life balance. It was through my own therapeutic experience and self-exploration that I discovered the courage to believe in myself. Believe Therapy was born from a conviction—a conviction that every individual deserves the chance to live life on their terms. Your therapy journey starts with belief—belief in change, growth, and evolution. I believe in you, and I hope you'll allow Believe Therapy to play a role in your own journey of belief.
Believe you can, and you're halfway there.
